Description

The National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) funded Research Design Service South East (RDS SE) is one of 10 regional services across England providing design and methodological support to health researchers who are developing research funding applications. RDS SE supports research teams to develop and submit high quality applied health and social care grant applications to NIHR and other national peer-reviewed funding programmes.

Public involvement in research

We offer:

  • small grants of up to £350.00 to finance the involvement of lay people in the design of health and social care research.
  • advice on how to find people and groups to undertake PPI activities.
  • advice on the levels of involvement and costing PPI.
  • facilitation of PPI activities such as focus groups.
  • review of  PPI in bids prior to submission from an independent panel of peer reviewers. The RDS SE lay panel can comment on the clarity of patient information sheets, consent forms and lay summaries.
